O Canada! Day 3, July 5, 2010

O Canada! We arrived late in Cardston at the end of day 2. It is a town that is a similar size to Reinbeck, Iowa. We stopped at the first hotel, the Flamingo to spend the night. After the exhausting day, we needed some hot water and a bed. Sad thing was the beds were not as comfy as in the pop up trailer.
When we awoke in the am, Deb and Amy took walks about town while Harold put the back rest on his motorcycle. Tim and Henry went to find a replacement for the blown out tire from the day before. Shelley and Becky downloaded camera pictures and posted on our Flamingo internet connection.

We got on the road and made our way across the country to Calgary. Note to us and not to scare anyone: Tim about got hit from behind by a truck and trailer that did not see him. As you figured out, he did not die, but he is in the running for one of our “End of the Trip Awards” that being: “The closest to death and not dying AWARD”.

The country side was very flat compared to Montana and farming appears to be the way of life. A local sign for a location: Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump. We also crossed, “Old Man River”.
Calgary Highlights:
• The call came of a new grand-daughter, Dylann for Tim and Becky;
• Large City. Huge, cool Olympic Park;
• Our introduction to Canadian’s eating fries with gravy instead of ketchup;
• Tim’s first allowed Walmart stop;

• … and the first of what we hope is the last of fraudulent charges to our credit cards. All of us got tagged at the same place. That stinks because the Canuck’s have for the most part been friendly and courteous drivers. “Eh”
Once we left Calgary, the guys rode through rain. Not wanting the night to end like day 2, we cut our day short. We found a camp ground 20 miles outside of Banff named Three Sisters. (It was a sign!)

Our original goal was to hit Banff and head to Lake Louise to Camp. (Another hour plus) It of course came with bear warnings.
Three Sisters was beautiful and we grilled Iowa chops. They were wonderful and not just because we were hungry and tired. The shotgun was locked and loaded. We slept well. (See picture of the view from out campsite)

If you are riding a motorcycle, it invites everyone to come and talk to you. Our gas stops are never quick. Everyone has to come talk to the guys. East bound riders give us information about what we have coming. It makes us nervous and excited.
Pictures coming
