Cannon Beach to Florence, OR

We met up withJerry and Debbie at Cannon Beach for lunch at Eolas for some seafood and atmosphere. We walked to the each where we saw the Haystack rock which most will remember from the movie "Goonies.". Small world in the LDS community happened when we met some members of our Church from Arizona on the beach. Debbie rode behind Tim down the coast for a while. Our first stop was at Tillamock cheese factory. Good ice cream and a short tour later we were off again. We stopped at a light house, Heceta, and crossed some marvelous bridges. What a fantastic scenery around every corner. Tim and Henry tried to race around the winding curves. We ended up at Florence, OR at a Comfort Inn. Ate at Moe's along the docks. Best clam chowder yet!

The bucket list continues... Our next trip on the bucket list was what we called "border to border". The plan is to follow the Pacific coastline from north to south. This time group goals involved dune buggy rides outside Florence, quest for "the best clam chowder", good sourdough bread, running in the redwoods,to not riding off an Oregon cliff. Becky was coming off a 4 day youth handcart trek and the intent of leaving Saturday, June 30. However after a little coaxing we stayed in our own beds for that nit and started out at 5am on Sunday, July 1st traveling over 800 miles in one day from Orem, uT to Portland, OR. We had warm weather all the way but very tiring. The Colimbian Gorge was magnificent. We saw surf sailors, lock and dams as we drove right along the water. We arrived at 9pm at Sandy Blvd. Comfort Inn and settled into a really comfortable bed in a large and spacious corner queen bed suite. Exercise room in the morning was inviting and Tim enjoyed the hot tub. We were totally excited for the adventures that were ahead of us.
